# CLI

The npm package exposes:

| Binary      | Role                                        |
| ----------- | ------------------------------------------- |
| `finch`     | User CLI (doctor, setup, vault, install, …) |
| `finch-mcp` | MCP stdio server entry                      |

## Common commands

```bash
# Configure clients
finch install
# Health
finch doctor
# Local vault + memory wizard
finch setup
# Inspect vault path / contents
finch vault
```

Via npx without global install:

```bash
npx -y -p @finchagentic/mcp@4.0.0 finch doctor
npx -y -p @finchagentic/mcp@4.0.0 finch setup
```

## Doctor expectations

A healthy doctor output typically shows:

* Backend reachable (if using cloud session)
* Auth / session state
* Local vault on/off
* Tool palette mode (`core` vs `all`)
* Optional keys present or not (Firecrawl, GitHub, …)

Zero critical reds is the goal. Warnings for optional keys are normal.

## Version

```bash
finch --version
# should match pinned package, e.g. 4.0.0
```

If clients load a stale binary: `npx clear-npx-cache` and restart the client.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.finchagentic.com/cli.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
